angrboda - 18 - as a adult

Well, Angrboda is already an adult in the comic— she’s the frost-giantess lifespan equivalent of in her late 20’s, so instead I drew her as what she’d look like a little older (by say 10 or so years?):

It’s interesting because when I think of Angrboda in the abstract, that is to say in the context of Norse mythology itself, I think of her at the apex of her power— while in the comic we meet her when she’s only at the beginning of her journey into becoming a more powerful and formidable Harbinger of Sorrow. So it was fun here to think of what she may look like some way down the line… Spoilers? Not spoilers? Only time will tell! Ohoho! And on that note I’ll get back to drawing the actual comic….

somebody please ask for one of these so i can quickly draw angrboda for one of these and not feel so bad about not updating

(you could also of course as for one of the other characters if you want)

sorry not an update

Hey everyone, this post is mostly to say a) happy Ragnarok and b) I am really really sorry for being a lazybutt about updating. Unfortunately this also won’t be fixed any time soon because my laptop went kaputt the other day and while I’m borrowing a laptop with photoshop on it, I won’t have the comic files I was working on back for a couple weeks. As an apology, you are all free to:

  1. pelt me with small pebbles
  2. request silly fanart of like, Angrboda riding a motorcycle or something
  3. I actually really suggest you request silly fanart of Angrboda riding a motorcycle I will so totally do that
  4. ask us questions about the comic and see what you can actually get us to reveal without giving away too many spoilers

Page 5 is up! Angrboda is angry, and you… might actually like her a lot when she’s angry. It’s pretty badass.

first off, holy shit
second off, those runes
i see gyfu isaz kaunan eihwaz laguz ansuz, which could be a transliterated magic word (something like gikela with a hard g) oooooor they could be using the meanings
in which case i see gift (possibly spear) ice ulcer (possibly torch) horse lake god, meaning possibly an icicle spear to the beast’s eye OR a gift of ice and fire in “horse lake”, possibly either her own belly (as in animal fury) or in the creature’s stomach (i have also considered eye as horse-lake but w/e)
of course im probably reading it hella wrong like probably its wishing to give the god-horse cancer or something
anyways hella dang cool

There is a [MATHS]% chance that is is, in fact, gonna be an icicle spear.

self-indulgently reblogging this for the fact that our webcomic already has meta being written about it and my art was complimented too aw yissss (●´∀`●)

THE FIRST PAGES OF PANTHEA ARE NOW UP!
Panthea is a new webcomic about a ragtag group of gods and legendary heroes traversing an ancient world, inhabited by every deity that man has ever prayed to and every monster it has seen in its nightmares. In these first pages we meet our resident frost giantess warrior-mage, who in turn meets a giant burrowing beast that she is probably going to have to punch very hard before she is allowed to get on with her day.

First Update on Friday!

The first three pages of Panthea will finally be coming this Friday! We’ve been working on this for a long time and we are really excited to finally be able to start sharing this story with you guys. Thanks to all of our 145 followers that we are pleasantly flabbergasted to have already, and to everyone else: do you want to read a webcomic about a bunch of lesser-known but certainly not lesser-badass mythological characters punching giant monsters in the face and confronting the mysteries of the ancient world? Well we really hope so because that’s kind of what this whole thing is about!

Yooooooooo! Imagine my surprise when I checked our Tumblr today and saw that we had somehow skyrocketed up to 86 followers! I thought mine eyes must be deceiving me, but there you all are on the list! I’m not sure how you all have wandered upon our little corner of the Tumblrsphere but we are very happy to have you here. Lucky for you, the first few pages of the webcomic will officially be going up… soon.

Characters of Panthea - 6/6

It is a time of gods and legends; a world where every ancient pantheon, hero, and monster can be found. It is perhaps a little time after the world settled from its violent creation into its stable form, but still long before all the sagas and prophecies have wound their way towards their inevitable end. A time when even the gods are new in their divinity. Our story begins with six of these gods, drawn down from their high heavens or up out of their underworlds by some urgent call—a call to adventure, or redemption, or perhaps simply diversion from the divine mundane. As if by chance— but can it be mere chance, with a god of luck in the mix?— these six legends are brought together, six separate causes all joined in a single band.
Houyi is the Chinese god of archery, exiled from the heavenly realm of Tian after a fit of rage led him to slay nine of the ten mythical sun-birds, leaving the mortal world illumined by only a single sun (which, in all fairness, the mortals greatly preferred). Cast down from the heavens and stripped of his immortality, he seeks to restore his fallen glory with deeds of such heroic valor and legendary prowess that the gods will have no choice but to recant their exile of him—and if one were to see him in action, they would surely agree with the wisdom of such a plan! Houyi may be a boisterous, reckless, and self-indulgent roustabout of a god, but he backs his boasts with the deadly hand of an archer who knows no peer in this world— and the mercy of a heart that feels genuine compassion for the mortals he has always protected.
